Family Caregiver Survey a Success!

Melisa Acoba surveying family caregivers at the March for Moms in LA
The Coalition is partnering with Human Impact Partners on a Working Family Caregiver Research Project to understand how Paid Family Leave and other workplace policies can support California caregivers of all ages. We are excited to announce that we have 846 completed surveys -- already surpassing our statewide goal of 500! We are not closing the survey until June 1 -- if you work and care for a family member or close friend with a disability or serious health condition, please take the survey today in Spanish or English. This is an important for step for advocates, organizers, and lawmakers to learn about the real needs of working family caregivers in order to campaign for positive change.
Family Caregiver Focus Groups
In the second stage of our research campaign, the Coalition is hosting four caregiver focus groups from May 30th – June 1st in Los Angeles and the Bay Area. Focus group participants will be compensated with a $50.00 gift card and there will be refreshments and child care. The focus groups in LA are for retail or restaurant workers and for Spanish speakers in multiple industries. In the Bay Area, we have a focus group for working caregivers ages 50-70. Please share this information with family and friends who may qualify.

Coalition Lobby Day: Advocating for Breastfeeding/Chestfeeding Parents
Join fellow California Work & Family Coalition members on May 23rd in the State Capitol to educate legislators about the importance of lactation accommodation for the health and well-being of new babies and working parents.
We will meet with key legislators and staff to educate them about SB 937 (Wiener) and AB 2785 (Rubio) that expand the rights of lactating parents in the workplace and school. We will also discuss the need to increase reimbursement for breast pumps under Medi-Cal, that hasn't changed in 30 years!
Register HERE!
A light lunch and training will be provided at 12:30pm in the Eureka Room in the Capitol basement.
