The ideal candidate for this position has organizing and project management skills and must be able to collaborate with teams of diverse groups and people toward a common goal. This job will provide an opportunity to support California workers and gain valuable experience in labor, public health, coalition building, and statewide policy work. We are looking for a 40 hour per week commitment with scheduling flexibility, starting salary range $53,000 - $58,000 with benefits and paid time off. The desired start time is mid-July/early-August 2020.

 

Job Description

The California Work & Family Coalition is seeking a campaign organizer/coordinator to lead our training and implementation work. This is a full-time benefitted (healthcare, dental, retirement, earned vacation) position focused on expanding access to and awareness of paid leave and related laws and benefits that help workers take time to care for themselves and their loved ones. Duties include coordinating “Know Your Rights” trainings, helping to identify, organize and support community educators, and fostering on-going partnerships with key agencies engaged in implementation work. The ideal candidate will be an organized self-starter who can work with diverse people and organizations.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Independent and self-directed
  • Organizing/campaign or project management experience
  • Passion for social justice
  • Ability to work well with diverse people and organizations
  • Interest in learning the basics of CA family leave laws (no need for prior expertise)
  • Experience with or ability to learn NationBuilder (website, database)
  • Availability to travel within California when safe (currently we are working/meeting remotely)

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Potential to continue/interest in longer term employment if funding allows
  • Interest in state and county politics 
  • Background or experience teaching or leading trainings
